I'm a jeweller with an eye for fun and my motivation to make stuff comes from the delight I get playing with materials and processes. I'm curious about objects, what they're made of and how they work. I use soft-tech and low-tech ways to shape materials into jewellery, which I want to be durable and comfortable to wear.

To me eyewear is one of the most humorous areas of body adornment, as well as being a site for functional and elegant eyeglasses. I trained in design at Wellington Polytechnic and started making jewellery in 1979. I've exhibited widely in New Zealand and am keen on passing on what I do. My master classes in Australia, USA and Canada are aimed at professionals yet I include beginners. I teach at local high schools hoping to encourage an interest in making detailed things.

I run jewellery classes from my studio in Titirangi.
