Jasmine Watson

Graduating from Unitec School of Design in New Zealand in 1995, Jasmine Watson began work in the film industry making jewellery, armour and costume props. Her film projects include the role of principal jeweler/jewellery designer for Peter Jackson’s Academy Award winning film trilogy The Lord of the Rings, and jeweller /jewellery designer for Andrew Adamson’s Academy Award winning film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

Her jewellery is inspired by the ornate floral designs of Oriental textiles, the elaborate geometric arrangements of arabesques and the infinite formations of mandalas. Combining her background in film and costume making with a love of intricate detail and ornamental surfaces, she layers and repeats pierced silhouettes to create jewellery that evokes a sense of theatre and occasion.

Jasmine has exhibited both in New Zealand and internationally. Made by hand, the individual components of her jewellery are meticulously hand cut, cast, then hand finished and assembled.
