Jeremy Leeming

Jeremy gained a diploma in Craft Design at Otago School of Art in 1992, then took an apprenticeship with well-known Nelson jeweller/silversmith Jens Hansen.

Jeremy is now Christchurch based working at The Filing Kabinett alongside Elfi Spiewack and Mary Bucket.

Inspired by our natural environment, – precious and semi-precious stones, combined by a simple palette of metals – his jewellery is modern, bold and honest.

He is fascinated by the enduring qualities of New Zealand Greywacke, Argilite, Basalt and Nephrite.

Jeremy starts with a collection of materials, be it Greywacke from Birdlings Flat, Basalt from Bank's Peninsula, or street paving cobbles from Prague and Berlin. Using techniques of lapidary, working on each piece ensuring that each form is created in sympathy with the material.
