This show follows on from my Flotsam show last year, in that I had all these unrelated ideas for jewellery! It's been great fun to do, heading me off in lots of directions and having a chance to play. Some of this work has shown at Royal, Masterworks and Form this year.
The Oval chains are a progression from some I made last year. They are all the same shape: #1 is single round wire link, #2 has double flat wire links, #3 is triangular wire and #4 is wire rolled out and wound around 4 times to make a link.
The Stitched brooches come from my fascination with textile arts and wanting to duplicate the lovely richness of hand made textile objects in silver.
I got the idea for the Pod brooches from flax seed pods. I was looking for a shape I could wrap the very fine pure silver wire around. This shape is perfect because it starts and finishes at a point.
The Wound Flower pendants are made from one piece of wire twisted around and joined: each has five petals and is a variation on this theme. They are then covered in fine wire.
This show is on until at QUOIL until 12 June.
