Kate Barton

I am inspired by structures, building plans, diagrams, underground pipes and wires, sparkling gems, Morse code, semiotics, secrets and machines.

Working from home in Waitakere City I use low tech methods to build up geometric structures that remain aesthetically fragile; the haphazard placement of prism shapes along a chain, flickering holographic boxes, and silver constructions with a hundred slightly different angles glinting.

In 2006 I graduated from Unitec with a BDes: Jewellery (Honors) and the year after with a GDipDes: Digital Animation. Combining these two areas of study is something that I am keen to pursue further.
