Landscape

This group of work came about since returning to New Zealand after residing in London for the last 12 years. I quickly rediscovered the beautiful and rugged nature of the New Zealand mountain landscape and the big skies of Canterbury.

Whilst having a piece of cut black Argillite on my bench for a few weeks, it slowly dawned on me that the stone formed the profile of mountain peaks. The process then began of bringing together this natural form and creating the sky that framed the backdrop.

This series has been made from various South Island stone, including Grey Bassalt and Green Argillite, with Stirling silver forming the backdrop.
