Creative expression has always been a primary component in my life. In 1979 I earned a fine arts degree with concentration in etching. Since then I have consistently created, exhibited and sold my work in a variety of media.
Fifteen years ago I began making rudimentary jewellery out to the need to find a creative outlet when I became the primary wage earner as my husband started his business. That minor outlet grew into a major focus, mostly self taught, now carried out in 2 studios in 2 countries on opposite sides of the world, the US and NZ.
I enjoy working in series which allows me to concurrently create in several ongoing thematic directions. These rings are from my Omega series. Six years ago, for unknown reasons, I began collecting found rusted metal pieces, Last year they began to find ‘homes’ in rings and pendants, Their rustic beauty, rich texture and color is enhanced by the contrast of the brown against the silver metal. Interest is provided in the juxtaposition of light vs dark, old vs, new, precious vs, non-precious.
