Nadine Smith

When it comes to the arts I’m like a kid with a chocolate box, wanting to try all sorts of media – I love letting my imagination fly! I’ve become something of a scavenger - I enjoy combining found and recycled oddments with the more usual art materials to create edgy, quirky pieces with elements of surprise and humour.

In my developing work, I’m exploring societal issues and the complex relationships between nature, technology and society today, in particular internal and external issues relating to the body. My past and present life experiences are intertwined to produce fragmented and transformed works that are sculptural, wearable and wall-able. I like the idea of my pieces provoking conversation, entertaining the viewer and leading them up their own garden path...
