Natalie Keegan

Natalie’s formal training was in painting and sculpture, holding a degree in visual arts. Since 2000, when she was inspired by a workshop with contemporary jeweller Karl Fritsch, she has complemented this with jewellery making. She became particularly interested in the ‘lost-wax cast’ technique and continues to explore this process in her current work.

The bulk of Natalie’s creations to date have been rings but she has also produced elaborate neck and wrist pieces. Natalie says of her work: “I really enjoy the process of wax sculpting; I feel I can impart a personal quality to a medium (precious metal) that is often perceived as impersonal, on every piece you can see the traces of my own fingerprints. In a way I approach each piece more as sculpture really than jewellery, as much as I may try I can never make two pieces identical.”
