Tania Patterson

Tania was born in Auckland in 1969. In 1989 she graduated from Unitech with a Diploma in Craft Design Jewellery. Since then she has established herself as a self-employed jeweller, exhibiting in both group and solo shows in galleries throughout New Zealand. These have included Fingers, Dowse Art Museum and Masterworks, as well as QUOIL.

Tania says "I work mainly in sterling silver with moving parts and mechanisms often a feature of my work. I enjoy making work that the wearer can interact with. Pieces with handles to wind, wheels to turn or buds to open. I like designing and making work with another dimension to it – an element of surprise, the unexpected.

Tania is taking a break from full-time jewellery making until the end of the year.
