The Scent of Camphor

"These objects create a connection with the maker, have a presence and evoke a narrative not present with mechanically produced items.

The body of work combines the obsessive repetitive process of making fabric objects by hand and oxidative time based processes. Materials used are fragile and reactive, prone to damage through wear and chemical oxidation.

Textile work is built with repetitive and time consuming actions, I have used an organic process to construct each piece, repeating patterns sometimes, but also allowing random choices of stitches to dictate the form, allowing an intuitive process to naturally grow the pieces."
