"Designing and creating contemporary jewellery lets me combine natural and human elements. The forms of architectural and industrial design inspire me – and it is often the mechanics of these designs that capture my imagination.

Bridging a gap with stone or shell – bridges the gap between natural and man-made. For example, using stainless steel and mother-of-pearl shell combines and emphasizes the differing strengths of the materials but at the same time lets the softer material stand on its own.

Physical contact with nature is important – I like to design my jewellery so that it allows the wearer to be in contact with the stone; providing another bridge, this time between the wearer and nature."
